Manila Rope is a rope with with a natural look that you would see at an nautical restaurant or in an old gym class video. With a natural brown color, manila is very popular for decoration. Manila is also very popular with landscapers and in arts and crafts. Manila rope will have about a 10% shrinking ratio we it gets wet the first time, so plan accordingly. Over the past 50 years manila has taken a side seat to synthetics ropes. Manila rope is commonly referred to as hemp or jute rope. Manila will rot from the inside out when prolonged to moisture for extensive amounts of time. It should be stored in a dry environment. Manila is still the “only” rope allowed by the Tug of War International Federation (TWIF).
